What is the Code?

The Women’s Health Funding Code is a commitment to support the advancement of science and technology to close the gender data gap in our lifetimes.

Become a Signatory

The Code is designed for all organizations that finance science, innovation, and market building.

The Code commits organizations to:

  • having a nominated member of the senior leadership team who will be responsible for advancing the inclusion of sex-based differences in research and innovation.

  • increasing the transparency of data concerning sex-based differences in research and innovation.

  • adopting internal practices to sustain support for scientific discovery, progress, and market growth that account for sex-based differences.

Signatory commitments

1. Nominate a member of the senior leadership team responsible for championing the funding and advancement of women’s health.

2. Adopt internal practices to ensure inclusion of sex based considerations in decisions to fund science and innovation (i.e. research includes mice of both genders, studies in humans include data on menstrual cycle, data is powered to show gender differences).

3. Provide annual data to the Women’s Health Fund to be published regularly on an aggregated and anonymized basis.

4. Signatories are expected to make this commitment public on their websites or on the Women’s Health Fund website.
